French OER 1 (Carrasco, Zahedi, and Parrish)

This text is designed for the first semester of French. This elementary level course is a study of the French language and French-speaking cultures, with emphasis on the development of communicative skills and basic structures. The course combines in-class instruction and practice with self-paced study in the Language Laboratory. This beginning-level course is for students with no previous coursework in French.
- 1: Unité 1 - Bonjour !
- In this unit, you will begin to understand and speak some everyday French. You will learn to greet people and get to know each other. You will also practice identifying and describing people and things.
- 2: Unité 2 - À l'université
- In this unit, you will learn some classroom vocabulary and talk about classes you are taking. You will learn how to tell time and talk about days and dates. You will also learn more about gender and number agreement and how to ask questions in French.
- 3: Unité 3 - La famille
- In this unit, you will learn to talk about family relationships and how to describe people's personalities. You will also learn how to talk about your likes and dislikes and provide information about your identity.
- 4: Unité 4 - Le temps et les loisirs
- In this unit, you will learn to talk about the weather and activities you do on your free time. You will also learn ways to talk about what you want to do, what you have to do, what you know how to do, what you are able to do, and more.
- 5: Unité 5 - En ville
- In this unit, you will learn about things to do and places to go in the city. You will also learn how to get around town and give directions
- 6: Unité 6 - La maison et le quartier
- In this unit, you will learn how to talk about your daily routines at home and in your neighborhood. You will also learn how to find a place to live.
