Political economy is one of the perspectives or theories that is often included in critical/cultural studies. However, this has not always been the case. Historically, there has been some tension between political economy and critical/cultural studies. In the remainder of this chapter, we will explore the foundations of political economy and its relationship to critical/cultural studies.
