    Introduction to Art provides a comprehensive global survey of artistic expression from the earliest evidence of human creativity to the diverse and technology-driven practices of the twenty-first century. The text begins by introducing the fundamental concepts of art appreciation, exploring what art is, the role of the artist, methods of art historical analysis, visual literacy, and the essential elements and principles of design that allow viewers to interpret and evaluate works of art. Students develop the analytical skills needed to compare and contrast artworks while gaining an understanding of artistic materials, techniques, and creative processes.
