Up until now, we’ve only learned one of the two words for “to be” (ser). So we could say “I am a kitchen,” but not “I am in the kitchen.” In this module, we’ll learn another word for “to be”: estar. We’ll use estar to talk about being in a location and, as we’ll see next module, to describe emotions.

As always, here’s a playlist to get in the right place to work with estar.

    Cami — Aquí estoy
Camila Constanza Silva Ojeda (born 17 February 1994) is a Chilean pop singer and composer, known for winning the first season of the TV series Talento chileno.

    Shakira – Estoy Aquí

    Shakira – Dónde Estás Corazón
Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born 2 February 1977) is a Colombian singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, actress and philanthropist. (More about Shakira on Wikipedia)

Shakira – Dónde Están Los Ladrones?

    Pink Martini ¿Dónde estás Yolanda?
Pink Martini is a musical group that was formed in 1994 by pianist Thomas Lauderdale in Portland, Oregon. Members of the band call it a little orchestra that crosses the genres of classical music, classic pop, Latin music, and jazz.
