    Learning Objectives

In this section, you will be able to:

    • Name buildings and landmarks.

    Introduction

When learning a new language, building a solid vocabulary foundation is critical to effective communication. For Arabic learners, understanding the names of buildings and landmarks is particularly useful for navigating cities and engaging in conversations about geography, architecture, and daily activities. Introducing new vocabulary related to buildings such as mosque (مسجد), school (مدرسة), and landmarks like bridge (جسر) will help learners gain practical language skills, allowing them to explore cities and describe their surroundings confidently in Arabic. Students can apply this knowledge when traveling to Arabic-speaking countries. Being able to recognize and use words like airport (مطار), hotel (فندق), market (سوق), and museum (متحف) will help them navigate and communicate more effectively. By mastering these terms, Arabic learners can better explore new cities, describe their travel experiences in Arabic, and engage with locals to enhance their travel experience.

    New Vocabulary

In this table, you will find vocabulary related to the chapter's theme. In each line, you can find the word in the singular and plural forms, if possible, meaning in English, the word in a sentence, and the audio for the new words in singular, plural, and the sentence. In addition, you hear the word's pronunciation in singular and plural forms from the audio in the dialog cards activity. Listen and repeat the Arabic pronunciation of the new Vocabulary. You should know that the new vocabulary will be integrated into the interactive contexts by scaffolding upon the previously learned vocabulary in earlier Arabic OERs.

    Check Your Understanding

As we continue our journey in learning Arabic, it’s important to remember that the best way to truly master a language is by actively using it. You will be introduced to different activities in your notebook or with your learning partners in this part.

    • Practice composing and pronouncing the vocabulary.
    • Create sentences according to the models.
