Hi. This chapter introduces you to stuff $^{10}$ you should know and think about before beginning to practice. It’s kind of lengthy, BUT it’s broken up by exercises, so maybe you read a little bit and then do some writing and then read some more bits and do some more writing, depending on what your teacher “assigns.”

$^9$ Do you know where this reference comes from? Either way, what are the commonalities between talking and writing?

$^{10}$ This book sure uses the word “stuff” a lot. Is that “appropriate”?
