    Purpose: You will practice your listening skills with prepositions to figure out where the pets are in the different rooms of a house. You will then react to two peers’ posts about their understanding of where the pets are in the rooms.

    Task: This activity has five parts:

    Before watching the video, please review Vocabulario: En la casa in this unit.

    1. Watch the video of the Spanish instructor describing the scenario
    2. Fill in the blanks with the prepositions you hear for each scenario
    3. Draw in the pets as best as you can on the sketch of each room
    4. Post your sketches
    5. Respond to the sketches of two peers

    Pasos 1 & 2: Download or print the PDF (see below) and fill in the blanks with the preposition you hear in the video. Pay close attention to any contractions (al or del) and the number of blanks you have to fill in.

     

    Paso 3: Download or print the PDF (see below). Draw in the pets as best as you can on the sketch of each room following the script where you filled in the blanks with prepositions. If you feel your drawing does not represent the desired pet, write the pet’s name in Spanish below the drawing (i.e. el perro, el conejo, etc.)

    Paso 4: You will post your sketches to the discussion board.

    Paso 5: Check the sketches of two of your peers and compare them with your own sketches. Comment on the location of two pets in your and your peers’ living room sketches and on the location of two pets in your peers’ bathroom sketches.

    Criteria: The components of this activity add up to 100%.

    Pasos 1-4: 60% of the grade for this activity will be earned by drawing in the pets in the appropriate places in the sketched rooms and from posting these sketches to the discussion board.

    Paso 5: 40% of the grade for this activity will be earned from your feedback on the correct or incorrect locations of three pets in each sketch of your two peers (5% for each pet).
