    Welcome to chapter 6, “ El cambio y el futuro .” In chapter 5, you shared stories about your past experiences and significant moments that helped shape who you are today. In this chapter, you will turn toward the future. You will begin by identifying current goals and working with classmates to articulate steps that can help you achieve those goals. You will also identify barriers that might present challenges. Afterward, you will discuss some of the causes that interest you and talk about your contributions toward helping those causes meet their goals. From there, you will share information about some of the changes you hope to see in your world and your community and what will need to happen in order for those changes to occur. You will also discuss the hopes that you have for others in your life, the hopes they have for you, and what others imagine for the future of those around them. This chapter will bring together all of the grammar structures and vocabulary you have been building so far and give you several opportunities to use your interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication skills.

    • 6.1: Module A - Making goals
      Welcome to chapter 6, “ El cambio y el futuro.” We will begin in this module by talking about what changes we would like to make to improve our own futures. You will discuss your current situation and identify areas where you would like to see change. You will create goals and identify both strategies for reaching them and barriers that may need to be addressed. You will also learn about others’ experiences with pursuing their personal and professional objectives.
    • 6.2: Module B - Activism
      In this module, you will learn about activists around the world and the causes that are important to them. You will compare that activism with what is happening in your city and discuss some of the important causes in your own community. You will also share with classmates about your own interests in activism and what changes you would like to work for in your communities. You will discuss what kinds of activism you find most effective and different ways of positively impacting the causes that a
    • 6.3: Module C - Wishes and hopes
      In this module, you will continue your exploration of important causes and changes you’d like to see in your community and in the world. You will also discuss your hopes and wishes for yourself and for the people you care about as well as their hopes for your future. You will read and listen to more detailed information about young activists and learn more about your classmates' hopes for the future.
    • 6.4: Module D - A better future
      In this final module, you will continue the conversation about hopes and wishes for the future, now moving further from the self. You will listen to public figures share what they hope for their countries, students share what they hope for their communities and the world, and parents share what they hope for their children. You will also practice listening skills, learning more about the ways we can better understand others and their wants and needs.
    • 6.5: Reflection and Review
      With this review, you will wrap up chapter 6. You will talk about possibilities for the future, and discuss their likelihood. How do you see yourself in ten years? How do you want others to see you? You will demonstrate your ability to express your thoughts in writing, work with peers and your instructor to edit your writing, and continue building skills in presentational communication. You will also reflect on your language-learning experience so far and look ahead to your future Spanish study.
