    This section of an English 102 course is designed to lead students through using sources. These five modules will lead students through annotation, summary, quoting, paraphrasing, and citation and will build to a summative Essay assignment in which students will demonstrate these skills.

     

    These modules will refer to the Textbook Reading and Writing Successfully in College: A Guide for Students by Patricia Lynne. This book is available under a Share Alike Creative Commons License. Please read Chapter One: Ist Step to Becoming an Anti-Racist

    These modules will use two articles to illustrate these topics, and then use the two articles as the basis for the summative essay assignment.

    The first source is “Power and Precarity: First Generation Students Compose Digital Stories of Class Mobility” by Jane A. Van Gale. This source is available under open access through Creative Commons, provided you cite the source.

    The second source is “Nostalgia Promotes Positive Beliefs about College Belonging and Success among First-Generation College Students” by Andrew A. Abeyta, Dyron Corley, and Nafisa Hasna. This source is available under open access through Creative Commons, as long as you cite the source and indicate any changes.
