The first reading introduces two major universities in the Spanish-speaking world: the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In the questions that follow, you’ll have a chance to think about academic calendars and courses of study. Maybe you’ll find a practical application for this knowledge by signing up to study abroad!
In the second reading, you will learn about Hispanic culture in the United States and where a majority of Spanish-speakers live in the U.S. You will also discover important and influential Hispanic figures in the U.S. The reading will provide brief summaries of these people as well as discuss the terms "hispanic" and "latino" and their associations.
