Guidelines:
- Title your two pages Chromatic Grayscales.
- Write the pigments used next to each strip.
- The first strip will have 11 steps as in the achromatic grayscale assignment. This one needs to match your value scanner exactly.
- The other three strips are blended, as smoothly as possible, with all the values on the scanner.
- You do not need to write the value numbers next to the chromatic grayscales.
- Tip: Get a fine spray bottle to keep your blends from drying too fast.
Sketchbook Pages 3 and 4:
- Measure 1/2 inch from the top and bottom of your page.
- Draw two 11 x 2 inch strips per page.
- Allow a slight amount of color to be visible, while maintaining a gray appearance.
- Strip 1: Mix pthalo blue, burnt sienna (11 steps).
- Strip 2: Mix cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, cadmium red (blended).
- Strip 3: Mix cadmium yellow, pthalo blue, alizarine crimson (blended).
- Strip 4: Mix cadmium red, yellow ochre, ultramarine blue (blended).
