Pretend you are at a party with great food and you are asking where the host / hostess gets the different food items.
A: ¿Dónde compras la pizza?
B: Compro la pizza en Ópera Pizza.
Notice that there is repetition of the word pizza. Do you know what you can do to avoid that repetition?
A: ¿Dónde compras la pizza?
B: La compro en Ópera Pizza.
What is being bought? The pizza. That is the direct object. We can replace direct objects with direct object pronouns to avoid repetition.
