This second edition is fully aligned with Tarea Libre 2 (2024) and University of Kansas’ Acceso. The manual incorporates the ASCCC OERI IDEA Framework and UDL 3.0 principles for culturally responsive, accessible instruction. It includes 8 chapters plus a capstone chapter, “De todo un poco”, each with cultural readings, grammar explanations, and self-graded H5P activities that are available in LibreStudio. Instructors can download the manual or use the LibreTexts OER Remixer to adapt and customize content for their course management system.
- 1: Capítulo 1
- This page covers Spanish numerals, including ordinal, cardinal, and Roman systems, along with their usage rules. It introduces comparatives and superlatives in the context of U.S. community colleges. The content also addresses the present indicative tense, focusing on verb conjugations and the differences between "ser" and "estar." Lastly, it explains the functions of infinitives and gerunds in expressing actions and ongoing processes.
- 2: Capítulo 2
- This page provides a comprehensive guide to the imperfect tense in Spanish, emphasizing its use for ongoing or habitual past actions. It includes conjugation rules for regular and key irregular verbs, contrasts past and modern life, and explains the tense's role in conveying politeness and interrupted actions. The page also highlights common expressions and mistakes to avoid, serving as a thorough resource for understanding the structure and application of the imperfect tense.
- 3: Capítulo 3
- This page explains the present subjunctive in Spanish, focusing on its application in adjectival and adverbial clauses. It includes a discussion on relative pronouns that link clauses and clarify sentence structure. Mastery of these concepts is vital for expressing doubt, desire, and hypothetical scenarios in the language.
- 4: Capítulo 4
- This page covers three essential Spanish grammar topics: direct object pronouns, which replace nouns receiving the action; indirect object pronouns, indicating the action's recipient; and the perfect tense in both indicative and subjunctive moods, used to express past actions relevant to the present by forming and employing the pretérito perfecto.
- 5: Capítulo 5
- This page provides an overview of essential Spanish grammar concepts, focusing on the future and conditional tenses, and the use of direct and indirect object pronouns. It clarifies the distinctions between the prepositions "por" and "para," offering definitions, examples, and guidance on correct usage to improve comprehension and proficiency in the language.
- 6: Capítulo 6
- This page explains Spanish conditional clauses, particularly "si" clauses, differentiating between real and hypothetical situations while introducing the imperfect subjunctive for unreal conditions. It also covers formal and informal commands (mandatos) related to these structures, offering grammatical frameworks for constructing sentences that convey different levels of certainty and politeness.
- 7: Capítulo 7
- This page discusses essential Spanish grammar concepts, highlighting the verbs "ser" and "estar" for various states of being. It details the use of pretérito perfecto del indicativo and pretérito perfecto del subjuntivo for completed past actions and introduces pluscuamperfecto del indicativo for prior past actions. Additionally, it addresses how perfect tenses apply in hypothetical contexts.
- 8: Capítulo 8
- This page provides an overview of Spanish grammar, detailing the differences between the preterite and imperfect tenses, their usages, and contexts. It also explains the impersonal use of "hacer" for general actions and the functions of "se" in passive constructions and reflexive verbs, offering valuable insights for mastering these grammatical elements.
- 9: De todo un poco
- This page provides a comprehensive overview of Spanish grammar and orthography rules. It covers accentuation, capitalization, punctuation, and specific spelling conventions for letters like c, s, z, and others. The page also addresses false cognates, adjectival participles, and verbs that require prepositions.
