Verbs: Das Perfekt - -ieren Verben
The participle forms of verbs can be used to build the conversational past, the past perfect and the subjunctive mood. They can also be used as adjectives.
A handful of German verbs that end in -ieren – -isieren/-ifizieren are related endings and behave the same way – end in the -t suffix like regular verbs, but they do not take the ge- prefix when forming the participle:
die Hexe | Dieses letzte Feuer hat mich total deprimiert! | This last fire totally demoralized me! |
die böse Königin | Das soll's auch! Wir haben die Küche erst im Oktober renoviert! | And it should! We just renovated the kitchen in October! |
die Hexe | Ja, ja, ich weiß, ich weiß! Du hast mich schon genug kritisiert! | Yes, I know, I know! You've already criticized me enough! |
die böse Königin | So ein Mist! Warum hat dich unser Cartoonist bloß nicht vom Bild radiert?!? | Crap! Why didn't our cartoonist erase you from the picture?!?! |
die Hexe | Mensch, du bist so gemein! | Man, are you ever mean! |
