Même

Même generally means "same". You can also say le/la/les même(s) (the same [ones]):

En même temps. (At the same time.)

C'est la même chemise. (That's the same shirt.)

J'ai cour le même jour que toi. (I have class the same day as you.)

J'ai les mêmes que toi. (I have the same ones as you.)

It can sometimes mean "even", as in the following passages:

Même Paul a aimé le film. (Even Paul liked the film.)

Je crois aux fées même si je ne les vois pas. (I believe in fairies even if I don't see them.)

Je fais du jogging même quand il pleut. (I go jogging even when it rains.)

De même is another way of saying "likewise":

Ton frère étudie sérieusement et tu devrais faire de même. (You brother studies seriously and you should do likewise.)

— Enchanté (Nice to meet you.)

— De même (Likewise.)

Quand même means "anyway", "still", "even so" or "all the same".

Les Red Sox étaient à la dernière place, mais ils ont remporté le championnat quand même . (The Red Sox were once in last place, but the won the championsgip all the same.)

Mes parents m'ont interdit d'utiliser ma tablette, mais je le fais quand même ! (My parents forbade me to use my tablet, but I do it anyway.)

It could also mean something like "not really" or "no... really".

Tu n'oserais pas faire ça quand même. (You wouldn't dare do that, not really / right?)

Tu exagère, quand même. (C'mon. You're exagerating / No, really. You've gone to far)

Autre

Autre means "other" or "another". It is usually preceded by the a definite (le, la, les) or indefinite (un, une, des) article.

Je vais voir un autre film. (I am going to watch another movie.)

Je l'ai vue l'autre jour. (I saw her the other day.)

L'un(e) l'autre is often used with reciprocal pronominal verbs to say "one another" or "each other".

Nous devons nous aider l'un l'autre. (We should help each other)

A preposition can be introduced in between "l'un(e)" and "l'autre", depending on the context, and the y can be made singular or plural. For example

Tu peux choisur l'un ou l'autre. (You can choose one or the other.)

Elles ont présenté leur projets l'une après l'autre. (They presented their projects one after the other.)

Ils se sont offert des cadeaux les uns aux autres. (They gave each other presents.)

Ils n'ont rien avoir l'un avec l'autre. (They don't have anything to do with each other.)

D'autre is the equivalent of "else":

Non, c’était quelqu’un d’autre. (Non, it was someone else.)

Que s'est-il passé d'autre cette année ? (Qhat else happened this year?)

Quoi d’autre? (What else?)
