( \newcommand{\kernel}{\mathrm{null}\,}\)

Learning Objectives

In this section, you will:

  • Identify some of the separate subject personal pronouns with their different genders: أنا - أنتَ - أنتِ - أنتم - نحن - هو - هي - هم

Introduction

In Arabic, subject pronouns are essential building blocks for constructing sentences and understanding basic grammar. These pronouns indicate who is performing the action in a sentence, similar to "I," "you," "he," "she," "we," and "they" in English. Arabic pronouns differ slightly based on gender and number, making them a bit more detailed. For example, there are different pronouns for "he" and "she," as well as separate forms for addressing groups of men, women, or mixed groups.

Learning these pronouns الضمائر is crucial for beginners as they form the foundation for creating simple sentences and expressing basic ideas. By mastering Arabic subject pronouns, you will be able to identify and refer to different subjects in a conversation, significantly improving your ability to communicate in Arabic.
