“Nations United: Urgent Solutions For Urgent Times” bestowed by Thandie Newton, a video on youtube made to speak out the goals of the United Nations and bring awareness to citizens about growing issues in our world. It includes some ways we can move forward to better our Earth instead of continuing to cause more harm-not only our Earth but our human community as a whole. It is important to unify to solve this, it cannot be done without a majority's help.

I started by introducing what the video was going to be about and I asked my two coworkers to each write down a personal goal they had for 2023 that will better either the Earth or their community. Their goals were different yet so similar, both said something along the lines of wanting to be more positive heading into the next year. Helping out more around them, being more conscious of their output into the world, and just being more responsible. Also before starting the video I asked if they believe the issues brought up are still prevalent in today's world. Climate change, gender inequalities, discrimination, poverty, wage gap, etc… both coworkers said yes they believe all of these issues are current.

We then started the video and after each chapter I would pause and we would discuss the solutions the video brought up for each matter just to recap. After the video finished I had some follow up questions for them, I began by asking them how they felt after watching. My younger coworker Emma who is 19 stated she felt more “awakened” and this is a movement she wants to be closely a part of. Sergio, my older coworker, at 29 said he feels “hopeful” for the future and believes the human race will find the solutions.

My second question was if their views had been changed in any way. Neither of their views were changed, just more informed on what’s going on and feelings of eagerness to get out and take action.

The third question I asked is if they personally feel affected by any of these affairs. Both felt they experience some of these issues and at the very least know people who do. Emma as a female definitely goes through some of the troubles discussed and is personally affected by laws and such that dictate women's anatomy, leaving men untouched. As do I share these same troubles with her. Sergio mentioned how he sees the women in his life be affected by some of these issues as well. He also brought up how the wage gap is huge in Mexico and how he sees the negative outcomes that follow. We all brought up how climate change has impacted our lives; how it is continuing to get worse even in our everyday lives.

My last question centered around asking them what they can do to help out. Anything they can do to alleviate stressors of the topics instead of adding to them. Sergio expressed a want to be more conscientious and less wasteful. Throw more effort into being less wasteful and more helpful. Emma wanted to educate herself more and bring awareness to the issues taking place. She found herself to be very envious of the women narrator walking us through the video and would like to be able to do something like she is. Get into an organization and be active in the cause.

In conclusion I found Emma to be a lot more willing and with the video than Sergio. I think a lot of this has to do with the age difference and personal experiences. My male co worker was a little more standoffish with the video and wasn’t as easily jumping into all the solutions being discussed. He conveyed to me having previous knowledge of some solutions to these issues. Specifically mentioning a Danish author known as Bjorn Lomborg, who mainly speaks on climate change and solutions to. He felt this should have been brought up. Overall the three of us enjoyed the video and saw the logic behind every thought. Though not all of us agree on everything we can all conclude change is necessary and prominent. Everyone needs to stand up and do their part in making our Earth whole again before it is too late.
