College Transfer Essay Or Scholarship Essay Assignments

In this essay, I’d like for you to begin researching Transfer Colleges or College Scholarships.

Our essay will be an argument, where you will be starting your research on transfer institutions, or scholarships . This is an important essay, as it will help you start research on a transfer college, and it will help you discover reasons why you’d like to transfer to that college. You will be creating an argument that you should be accepted to this school and why/deserve a particular scholarship and why. Use you prior knowledge, life experience, and academic experience to prove why you should be admitted.

Ever since Doctor Benihoff saved my life, I knew that it was my destiny to become a Doctor and save others, which is why I’d like to go to UCLA and study directly under Dr. Benthoff.

Essay Prompt: Please write a 3-5 page essay that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve OR a 3-5 page paper that argues why you deserve a particular scholarship.

Transfer Essay Map Breakdown:

Introduce Yourself. Use a Story about your first experience with this field; etc.
What are your core values (which part of you is suffering in your current school environment?)
1. Essentially, you should be asking yourself the real reason you thought of transferring in the first place. Do you feel out of place at your current school? Do you feel like you’re not being challenged mentally, or something else entirely? This full list of feelings and needs that might not be being met at your current school

Explain why you chose your transfer university
1. explaining why you chose your current school in the first place. Did it have a program you liked, a professor, a specific major? Was its location perfect for what you wanted to study? Whatever your reason was, elaborate on it here
What’s your goal? What do you want to do (in the future)?
1. Do you have a particular passion, dream job, or vision for your future? Whatever it is, now’s the time that you would get into it.
2. And before you say that you don’t have a specific “dream” quite yet, that’s fine! If there’s a particular passion you have or a job that you’re most interested in at the moment, use that. Try and create a narrative around it that ties in with the rest of your essay.
Outline how your prospective school will help you fulfill your goals
Close (Sign off)!

1. Briefly explaining how their experiences (even the not-so-happy ones) made them who they are, and help them grew
2. Further elaborating on how their prospective school could help fulfill their dream
3. Describing how their prospective college could be a new “home” for them
