1.4: Sección 1 - Repaso de los pronombres indirectos

 

Before we start with Indirect Object Pronouns, it is important to review a couple of terms first:

Subject: The do-er of the action

Verb: The action, conjugated based on the Subject/ Do-er of the action

The Direct Object receives the action. 

           To easily identify the direct object, ask yourself who or what is being “verbed.” (i.e., made, sent, received, given, etc.)

The Indirect Object receives the direct object OR can be identified by determining to whom / for whom / from whom an action is done.

For example:

I send my mom flowers./ Le mando flores (a mi mamá).

What’s being verbed? - - - The flowers/ flores

Who received the flowers? - - - My mom/ le...a mi mamá

I give my friends gifts./ Les doy regalos (a mis amigos).

What’s being verbed? - - - The gifts/ regalos

To whom was it given? - - - My friends/ les...a mis amigos

I make lunch for my kids./ Les preparo almuerzo (a mis hijos).

What’s being verbed? - - - The lunches/ almuerzos 

For whom were they made? - - - My kids/ les…a mis hijos

The waiter serves me the meal./ El camarero me sirve la comida (a mí)

What’s being verbed? - - - the meal/ la comida

To whom was it served- - - Me/ me...(a mí)

OJO: When you have an indirect object in Spanish, you MUST use the indirect object pronoun. Native speakers regularly use BOTH the indirect object pronoun along with the indirect object for clarification or emphasis.  While it may seem redundant to use both it is considered correct grammar, and native speakers use both together all the time. When using the actual indirect object, be sure to put “a” in front of the person’s name, title, or pronoun.

Actividad 3

 

Actividad 4: La bolsa mágica*

Paso 1: Formen grupos de tres personas; alguien va a escoger 5 cosas de la bolsa.

Paso 2: Un/a estudiante (el/la agente) le pasa el objeto a otra persona del grupo y describe lo que hace usando el pronombre de objeto indirecto.
           El/la recipiente tiene que describir lo que le pasó usando el pronombre de objeto indirecto.
           Y finalmente el/la observador/a  describe lo que ocurrió

            Modelo: Agente -             Te pasé el sobre

                        Recipiente -         Me pasaste el sobre

                        Oberservador/a-  Le pasaste el sobre

Paso 3: Túrnense hasta que cada persona haya tenido la oportunidad de hacer cada papel (el de agente, recipiente o observador/a) por lo 
              menos una vez.
