Il comparativo
(a) In order to compare people, things and actions you can use the following expressions:

For example:
Questa ministra è meno gustosa dell'altra. (This soup is less savory than the other one.)
Nella classe ci sono sedie che sono più vecchie che aggiustate. (In this classroom there are chairs that are older than functional.)
Note: The adjective has to agree in gender and number with the noun it refers to.
(b) Here are the irregular comparative adjectives:

I comparativi degli avverbi è simile agli aggettivi
Mia sorella parla più velocemente di mio fratello (My sister talks more quickly than my brother.)
Note: After a comparative, Italian requires the la form tonica del pronome

Il superlativo
Il superlativo relativo degli aggettivi
(a) To express extremes (i.e., the most, the least) we can use più and meno as well, but with a different formula.

NOTE: The adjective and the definite article have to agree in gender and number with the noun they refer to.
For example:
Paul e Ken sono i ragazzi più altri della classe. (Paul and Ken are the tallest boys in the class.)
Quello è il romanzo meno interessante di Camus. (That’s Albert Camus’ least interesting novel.)
(b) When an adjective can precede the noun it modifies, so can its superlative form. This gives you two options:
E' la più grande di tutte le città or È la città più grande di tutte (It's the largest city.)
(c) Here are the irregular superlative adjectives:

Le superlativo degli avverbi
Michele è il giocatore che corre più velocemente (Michelel is the soccer player who runs the fastest.)
