To say how to say we like doing things we use gustar + infinitive as in Me gusta trepar árboles (I like to climb trees).
When we talk about liking things in Spanish, it is different than liking to do things (gustar + infinitive). That’s because we have to conjugate gustar for the thing or things liked, rather than the one liking them. In the next section, we’ll learn how to do that. Now that you are familiar with how to conjugate -ar verbs, you'll better understand why gustar must agree with its subject, the thing(s) that is (are) liked.
