    Textbooks

There is one textbook used as resources for this class along with this coursepack. It is available for free through the Cosumnes River College library.

Hornung, David. Color: A Workshop for Artists and Designers (opens in new window). 2nd ed. Laurence King Publishing, 2002.

    Supplies

    Acrylic Paint

Note: Do not buy heavy bodied paint unless you can’t get the color in medium bodied paint. It has too much texture for design projects. I recommend purchasing large economy tubes.

    • Reds:
      • Cadmium red medium – do not get the hue version, it is too transparent
      • Alizarine crimson
    • Yellows:
      • Cadmium yellow medium - do not get the hue version, it is too transparent
      • Yellow ochre
    • Blues:
      • Pthalo blue
      • Ultramarine blue
    • Green:
      • Pthalo green
    • Brown:
      • Burnt umber
      • Burnt sienna
    • Black:
      • Mars black – other blacks are fine
    • White:
      • Titanium white (large size) - you may need another large tube in the middle of the semester
    • Satin medium & varnish – Do not get gel, liquid is best. 1 pint recommended
