Music Performance track includes a wide variety of genres and styles to prepare students for careers as soloists, ensemble musicians, teaching artists in schools, arts organization members, indie artists, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the field of performance. This will involve receiving training to become an excellent instrumentalist or vocalist, students are encouraged to pursue coursework based on their musical interests that prepares them for the multifaceted professional world, including courses in improvisation, composition, music technology, career development, and community outreach.

The text is written with the non-brass playing music education student in mind and focuses on developing beginning levels of brass technique alongside a more expansive understanding of brass fundamentals and pedagogy. While a basic level of technical proficiency will be developed throughout this text, the ability to teach beginning to intermediate brass players effectively with sound pedagogy is its primary purpose.
