    In each of the following, underline the gerund or infinitive. Explain why it is used. The first one is done for you as an example.

    1.     I want you to speak to me after class. [infinitive 'to speak' used after the object pronoun 'you']

    2.     It is terrible to bully others.

    3.     I wanted to call you yesterday.

    4.     Have you considered seeing a counselor?

    5.     She is proud of having wonderful children.

    6.     You should never leave class without taking all your belongings.

    7.     She asked her parents to help her.

    8.     I regret not organizing my time better when I was younger.

    9.     The consequences of cheating on an exam can be severe.

    10.  I am prepared to take the next test.

    11.  Going hiking is one of my favorite hobbies.

    12.  My friend went to the mall to buy some shoes.

    13.  Living in a new country can be difficult at first.

    14.  It is so nice to meet you.

    15.  It is a good idea not to sleep late before a test.

    16.  Not getting enough sleep can cause you to do poorly on tests.
