    Present Perfect Tense

     

    Underline the present perfect tense verb in each of the following sentences. Why is the present perfect used?

    1. Action started in the past and continued to the present [for/since/how long]

    2. Repetition from past to present

    3. Action happened at an unknown time [always/never/already/yet/ever]

     

    For each, write 1, 2, or 3 to state the reason.

    1.My family has gone to Los Angeles four times.

    2.We have been in class since 12:45 pm this afternoon.

    3.Have you ever been to New York?

    4.I have taught at Contra Costa College for 10 years.

    5.I haven’t had my lunch yet.

    6.She has already finished her homework.

    7.I have always wanted to visit China.

    8.My students have done one skills center report so far.

    9.We have studied the present perfect since we started class.
