    Learning Objectives

Once I have mastered this unit, I will be able to:

    • in my own and in Chinese culture, identify social practices such as greetings, introductions, leave-taking, and thanking people.
    • greet and take leave from someone using polite rehearsed behaviors.
    • introduce myself to someone, both formally and informally, and introduce someone else to a third party.
    • ask and reply to questions about how people are.
