    Student-Created Options\(^{99}\)

      8am Student-Creations:
Create a Venn Diagram comparing & contrasting two things we’ve read for this class during this semester.
Illustrate (draw pictures of, etc.) one of the readings we did for this class.
Create a 6-sentence story about what you plan to do over the upcoming holiday break. Then write that story in texting language.
Read: “12 Things that Back to the Future Promised We’d Have by 2015” on buzzfeed.com; after reading, write a reaction to what you feel we are falling behind on, and if you think those inventions will exist in the year 2015.
Write a rap or poetry slam based on any of the readings we’ve done for class this semester.
      1pm Student-Creations:
Pick a famous person you admire & write a 50+ worded paragraph on why you admire them.
Choose a piece of art. Critique the piece you have chosen. Answer both of these questions: What do you like about it? What would you change about it?
Nifty Fifty: Summarize this semester in exactly 50 words.
Story Time: Create a 5+ page children’s book about anything we’ve read this semester.
Pick a fairy tale. Change the ending of it.
Pick a word at least 7 letters in length. Write a continuation of the story, each sentence starting with a letter from the word. For example: Confusion = First sentence starts with “C,” second with “O,” etc.
Interview Yourself. Ask yourself 5 questions and answer them.
Choose any one of these sentences as your first and finish the story: (1) An asteroid was heading towards Earth… (2) Let me tell you a little Christmas Story… (3) This one time in English class…
Pick a singer/band/actor. Make a story out of their song titles or movies. 10+ sentences. Example: “Will Smith grew up in the Wild Wild West. When he was 18, he decided to leave on Independence Day. He went to NYC for his Pursuit of Happiness.”
      3pm Student-Creations:
Create a tweet as a political leader that would hurt your chances to get re-elected. Then create 2 subsequent tweets to try and apologize.
Write a radio message selling a new product!
Mini-Media Paper = Respond to: Could you make it through a media fast if it was a day in length? This means no media (internet, TV, radio, etc.) for 24hours. Why or why not?

    DIY

<Feel free to create your own prompt and share it with the teacher; it may end up in a future edition of this book!>

    Lyrics

Use the lyrics of a favorite song to write an essay on a topic completely different than the topic of the song. Additional words may be used, but every word from the lyrics must be in the essay.

    Vent Session

Think of something you hate. Something you cannot stand; something that makes you extremely angry. Now, write "On" in front of that something and you have the title of your essay. Do not edit, do not stop to think. Just write. Example essay titles: "On Disrespecting Elders…" “On the font of Times New Roman…”

    IF…

    • If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Write a few paragraphs explaining what the superpower is, why you would like to have it, and what you would do with this new power. How would your life change if you had this superpower?
    • If you could be any age at all, how old would you be (older or younger)? Write about why you would like to be this age and what you would do.
    • If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island and could take three items with you, what three items would you take and why? The three items have to fit in an ordinary backpack. Describe each item fully and tell why you want each one.
    • If you could go back in time and re-experience an event in your life, what would it be. Would you go back to change an event that happened or to re-experience a happy time? Or something else?
    • If I Were a Teacher: Write a few paragraphs on what you would do if you were a teacher for a day. What subjects would you teach and how would you teach them?
    • If you could give yourself a new name, what would it be? Write about why you chose this new name and how it might change your life.
