Hablemos claro is an Open Educational Resource (OER) designed for intermediate to advanced level Spanish conversational courses at the community college level. Created with community college students in mind, this text provides engaging, relevant, and meaningful opportunities to develop oral communication skills while exploring topics that reflect students' experiences, interests, and the realities of contemporary society.

The purpose of Hablemos claro is to help students build confidence and proficiency in spoken Spanish through authentic communication. the materials encourage learners to engage in conversations, discussions, presentations, and debates that promote critical thinking, cultural awareness, and interpersonal connection. Rather than focusing solely on language mechanics, this resource invites students to use Spanish as a tool to analyze, interpret, and discuss issues that matter in their daily lives and communities.

The themes explored throughout the book address questions of equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice within the context of the multicultural society of the United States and the communities in which students live. Through these topics, students are encouraged to examine different perspectives, reflect on their own experiences, and participate in respectful and meaningful dialogue.

Drawing inspiration from literature, visual arts, music, film, and other cultural expressions, Hablemos claro connects artistic and cultural works to contemporary issues and current events. Students explore how creative expression reflects social realities and how the ideas presented in artistic works continue to resonate in today's world.

Above all, Hablemos claro is intended to be an accessible, inclusive, and student-centered resource that supports language development while fostering civic engagement, cultural understanding, and meaningful communication. By participating in authentic discussions about relevant social and cultural topics, students strengthen their Spanish language skills and develop the confidence to communicate effectively in diverse settings.

Hablemos claro is also available in Canvas Commons.
