Here are some verbs that are often used to talk about daily activities, many of which describe reflexive situations. When expected to be used reflexively, remember that the reflexive pronoun ¨se¨ is attached to the end of the infinitive.
acostarse (ue) – to lie down / go to bed ejemplo: Teresa se acuesta a las diez de la noche. |
acostar - to lay down (something or someone else) ejemplo: Mimi acuesta a sus nietos a las ocho. |
afeitarse / razurarse – to shave (oneself) ejemplo: Me afeito antes de ponerme shorts. |
afeitar / razurar - to shave ejemplo: El barbero afeita al cliente. |
bañarse – to bathe (oneself) Manuel se baña antes de acostarse. |
bañar - to bathe La madre baña a su hijita antes de acostarla. |
cepillarse – to brush los dientes / el pelo, etc. Juan se cepilla los dientes dos veces al día. |
cepillar - to brush El padre cepilla los dientes a su hijo de dos años.

despertarse (ie) – to wake up Nosotras nos despertamos temprano (early). |
despertar (ie) Los gatos despiertan a la familia cuando tienen hambre. |
dormirse (ue) – to go to sleep (reflexive here refers to the process, as opposed to just ¨to sleep.¨) Cuando estoy muy cansada, me duermo en el sofá. |
dormir (ue) - to sleep Yo duermo por lo menos siete horas cada noche. |
ducharse / bañarse – to shower (oneself) Liam prefiere ducharse. |
duchar / bañar - to shower Yo no ducho a mis gatos con frecuencia. |
levantarse - to get up Necesitamos levantarnos antes de las seis para salir a tiempo. |
levantar - to lift Gabriel levanta pesas tres veces por semana. |
lavarse – to wash las manos / los dientes / el pelo, etc. Es importante lavarnos las manos antes de comer. |

maquillarse – to put makeup on oneself Las chicas se maquillan antes de ir al club. |

volver (ue) a casa / regresar a casa – to return home Regreso a casa antes de ir a mi clase de danza. |
