  • Review the most common microphones used in video production and their uses.

  • 10.1: Elements of Sound
    In this section, we will go over sound waves and the difference between audio and sound.
  • 10.2: Microphones
    Not all microphones are built the same because waves are converted to electric signals using different mechanics. There are three different microphone builds that are commonly used in video production and we will review them here.
  • 10.3: Audio Connectors
    Audio signals can be sent through different wires and different connectors. In this section, we will look at the different audio connectors you will run into in a typical production.
  • 10.4: Controlling Sound with a Video Camera
    Recording good quality audio on location is very important and can make or break a video. In this section, we will review how to record sound using the functions on a camcorder.
  • 10.5: Location Audio
    There are some good tips in this section on how to make sure your sound recording goes well shooting on location.
