Para comprender bien el uso de subjuntivo en cláusulas relativas es necesario conocer ciertos términos:
Adjetivo: palabra que describe un sustantivo.
Cláusula relativa: cláusula subordinada que normalmente empieza con “que” y sirve como “adjetivo” para describir un sustantivo o pronombre. (En la oración viene después del sustantivo/pronombre.)
Antecedente: (antecedent): es el sustantivo o pronombre ya mencionado al que se refiere la palabra “que” que inicia la cláusula adjetival. Esta palabra “QUE” se llama el “pronombre relativo” porque se refiere o está relacionada con un sustantivo mencionado antes. (“ante” = “antes”).
Ejemplo : El libro que leo ahora es de mi amiga.
cláusula adjetival: “que leo ahora”
pronombre relativo: “que”
antecedente: libro
REGLA: Se usa el subjuntivo cuando el antecedente es indeterminado, no específico, no existente o negativo.
Vivo en un apartamento grande. (adjetivo)
Vivo en un apartamento que es grande. (cláusula relativa con un verbo conjugado en el presente de indicativo).
Busco un apartamento grande. (adjetivo).
Busco un apartamento que sea grande. (cláusula relativa con un verbo conjugado en el presente subjuntivo).
