- Notice how these words work when followed by the verb è:
- Dove + è → Dov’è ?
- Come + è → Com’è ?
- Quando + è → Quand’è ?
- Quanto + è → Quant’è ?
- Che cosa changes not only with è, but also with a and ha:
- (Che) cosa + è → Che cos’è ?
- (Che) cosa + avere →Che cos’hai? Che cos’avete?
- You do not need “do/does” to form a question in Italian. To ask any question, simply raise your intonation at the end of a sentence. Repeat after your instructor:
- Prendi un panino. vs. Prendi un panino?
- Sei italiano. vs. Sei italiano?
