    Teacher's Guide

    Arabic OER II and the associated books in the Arabic OER program are designed to allow a comprehensive teaching of the Arabic language, including the geography and culture of Arabic-speaking countries. This resource consists of 5 thematic chapters, which cover a variety of themes stretching from talking about oneself and one's family, to one's daily routine. This book is constructed to follow the schedule of an academic semester of community college, though it can be adapted to satisfy your teaching needs.

    Chapter Structure

    Each chapter is formatted based on its theme. There are ten sections in each chapter covering Arabic vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, with cultural lessons as well. There are authentic materials included within the resource, to help the student immerse themselves into the targeted culture, and each section culminates with an assessment for the current and previous chapters. The four language skills are tested in each assessment.

    Vocabulary

    Vocabulary is introduced in its various conjugated and subject agreeing forms, with definitions in English, context providing sentences, and audio recordings of proper pronouncement of the term given for each word. Vocabulary is provided in categories such as nouns, adjectives, and verbs, with interactive activities given after introducing the new words so that students can familiarize themselves with their usage.

    Listening and Speaking

    Listening and speaking language learning activities are provided to teach students how to use new vocabulary in the context of the language.

    Reading and Writing

    Reading activities are provided to introduce new vocabulary to students to strengthen knowledge of the new vocabulary and ease students into more complex usage of the Arabic language.

    Grammar

    Grammar lessons are introduced with familiar and new vocabulary to continue development of Arabic language usage. Arabic conjugation is explained and important lessons distinguishing usage of Arabic grammar structures are provided so the student can understand these language rules in their native context. Interactive exercises and videos are provided to assist with learning of new language rules.

    Culture

    The learning of any language is incomplete without also learning of its cultures of origin. This is why lessons introducing the student to the culture of Arabic-speaking countries are provided so that the student may familiarize themselves with the language culture alongside learning the language. Cultural lessons revolve around the theme of the chapter they are in.

    Assessment

    Assessments are multimedia, incorporating videos, audios, reading, and writing exercises so that the student may explore their mastery of the four language skills acquired over the course of the chapter.
