Welcome to Arabic Level Three, an open educational resource (OER) developed to support learners continuing their study of Modern Standard Arabic. This book builds on the foundations laid in Levels One and Two by expanding your vocabulary, deepening your understanding of grammar, and broadening your exposure to Arab cultures.
Who is this book for?
This textbook is intended for college students, independent learners, or anyone who has completed approximately two semesters of Arabic and is ready to move into more advanced beginner or early intermediate content. It is designed to accompany an Arabic 201–202 series or similar Level Three course.
What will you learn?
In this book, you will:

Build your vocabulary around thematic topics such as the city, clothing, personal appearance, transportation, the past, and food & meals.

Explore grammar points that support communication on these themes, including comparatives, relative pronouns, imperative forms, negating the past, and more.

Read and listen to culturally rich texts and dialogues that deepen your understanding of Arab societies.

Practice your writing and speaking skills through guided tasks, video projects, and role-plays.
Each chapter includes vocabulary, culture, two grammar sections, reading & writing, listening & speaking, and an assessment, allowing you to steadily build all four language skills.
How is this book taught?
This textbook is designed for maximum flexibility. It can be used in fully online, hybrid, or face-to-face classrooms. Each module begins with clear learning objectives and a module overview that includes links and a short video (often in Arabic and English) explaining the content and assignments.
Instructors can follow the sequence provided or adapt it to meet the needs of their students. The OER is paired with interactive activities on H5P for immediate feedback and with ADAPT assignments that integrate into your learning management system (like Canvas) to sync directly with the gradebook.
A note to instructors
Feel free to adjust, remix, or supplement the material to best suit your classroom. The OER is meant to be a living resource — you can customize it to your course length and your students’ needs. Using the H5P activities and ADAPT homework ensures that students have plenty of opportunities to practice and receive instant feedback, which is critical at this level of language learning.
