- 1: Introduction
- In the introduction chapter, you will learn the basics of the sound system and writing system of Mandarin Chinese.
- 2: First Contact
- In Lesson 1 "First Contact" you will learn to greet someone for the first time, say goodbye, introduce yourself, and ask someone's name.
- 3: Origin and Languages
- In Lesson 2 "Origin and Languages" you will learn how to use Chinese to ask whether someone is a student and what is their major, ask where someone comes from, and ask what languages someone speaks.
- 4: Family
- In Lesson 3 "Family" you will learn how to explain the characters used to write one's name in Chinese, as well as how to talk about someone's age, where someone is from, one's family, how many siblings one has, and what job someone has.
- 5: Ordering Food and Drink
- In Lesson 4 "Ordering Food and Drink" you will learn how to make a polite request, how to specify the quantity of something, how to say what you want, and how to place an order at a restaurant or coffee shop.
- 6: At the Restaurant
- In Lesson 5 "At the Restaurant" you will learn how to reserve a table at a restaurant, read a restaurant menu, order food and drinks from a menu, and settle the bill after eating at a restaurant.

- In Lesson 6 "At the Hotel" you will learn how to make a reservation for a hotel room, check in and check out at a hotel reception desk, express a complaint or request politely, and leave your luggage at reception on the day of check-out.

- In Lesson 7 "Shopping" you will learn how to purchase basic necessities at a supermarket, specify quantity when making a request, talk about different colors, ask yes/no questions, use auxiliary verbs to specify various degrees of desire, and make suggestions in everyday contexts.

- The conclusion chapter provides an overview of how to review the vocabulary you have learned and includes instructions on preparing for and taking the final exam.
