    Domitila Barrios Cuenca de Chungara (Bolivia, 1937-2012) fue una activista por los derechos laborales de los trabajadores en su país, especialmente los mineros. Tuvo un papel fundamental en la organización de mujeres y familias para hacerse oír en medio de dictaduras y reducciones salariales para el sector minero durante las décadas de 1960 a 1980. Obtuvo fama internacional por su participación en la primera Conferencia Mundial sobre la Mujer (México, 1975), y por la publicación del libro Si me permiten hablar... (1977), en el que la socióloga brasileña Moema Viezzer recoge los testimonios de Domitila sobre su vida, ideales y activismo. Fue candidata a la vicepresidencia en Bolivia y dedicó los últimos años de su vida a la formación política de personas de la clase obrera. Fue condecorada póstumamente con El Condor de los Andes, la máxima distinción que otorga el Estado boliviano. Domitila sostenía que la lucha de las mujeres por igualdad de derechos, acceso a la educación y trabajo digno debía dirigirse a combatir la dominación económica, política y cultural de los pueblos.
