- In this lesson, you will learn about different genres of fiction and the importance of world building and place to your writing. SLOs-Understand, analyze, and apply the main elements of poetry, fiction, and drama to their own creative writing. Blend various creative techniques and strategies into their own writing. Analyze and evaluate their own writing and that of others for strengths and weaknesses. Edit and revise compositions. Perform readings of their work and works of others.

- Read some books from the library to get a better understanding of form and science fiction.
- 5.3: Activity
- This page offers a writing activity where students can either revise an existing short story to match a certain genre or create a new one based on a preferred genre. It highlights the importance of understanding character and story development through genre conventions and encourages reflection on how the genre influenced their writing. A formative assessment rubric is provided to effectively evaluate the students' responses based on completeness, correctness, and focus.
