    1. Notice the student’s in-text parenthetical citations. Why do some of them include page numbers while others do not?
    2. In the introduction of the paper, why does the student put quotation marks around the title instead of using italics?
    3. What is the overall subject of this paper? What is the topic?
    4. Go back through the paper and underline the signal phrases and source introductions. Does the author introduce enough sources? Do they tell us enough about their sources to fill us in? If not, where does the student need to include more source information.
    5. In paragraph 4, there is a citation that includes a shortened version of the article title rather than the author’s surname and a page number. Why is this?
    6. What is the student’s thesis statement? Is this a strong or weak thesis statement? Based on this thesis, what might the student’s research question have been?
    7. If you were reviewing this paper for peer review, what further evidence would you suggest the author add to the paper to make their point convincing?
    8. The conclusion to this paper falls a bit flat. What do you think the author could do to improve the conclusion?
    9. This paper has some proofreading issues. Go back through the paper and find at least two places that the student should have proofread more carefully for clarity and/or wording. How do these issues affect the reading experience for you as a reader?
