The following information explains the use of the verb gustar and regular -er and -ir verbs all in the present tense. You will be able to conjugate these verbs and use gustar appropriately in a sentence to express what you and others like.

1. Gustar means to like or to be pleasing. 2. The sentence structure in Spanish to say “I like …” is different than in English. 3. Instead the main subject of the sentence is the item being liked and the person doing the liking is an indirect object. 4. English: I like x. Spanish: X is pleasing to me. |
1. Gustar uses indirect object pronouns and it is conjugated as either gusta for singular or gustan for plural.
