    The following explanations are all about verbs in the present tense which include regular -AR ending verbs and the verbs ser and tener. You will be able to conjugate verbs in the appropriate form and determine when to use ser and tener.

    *The verbs ser and tener have various meanings and applications. However, they are important to understand and differentiate because they are both different ways of saying I am in Spanish.

    1. Ser is one of the verbs in Spanish that means to be while the other is Estar.

    2. Ser is used mostly to describe the permanent state of something.

    Son las dos de la tarde

    It's two in the afternoon

    5. Origin 

    Yo soy de México

    I am from México

    6. Relation

    Elizabeth es mi madre

    Elizabeth is my mom

    2. Tener is used for something you physically have or to express a feeling or need.

    3. Tener can be used to describe feelings or emotions at a specific time: tener + noun

    Actividad 1. Conjugate the -ar verb with the appropriate ending based on context.

    Conversación: On a piece of paper or with a partner answer the following questions using the vocabulary and appropriate verb conjugations.

    1. Use an -ar verb: What is something you did today.

    2. Use the verb ser: What are two of your characteristics?

    3. Use the verb tener: What is your current need?

    4. Use an -ar verb, ser, or tener: What can you share about your studies?
