    Final Project: That’s a Wrap!

Congratulations, filmmakers! 🎥 You’ve reached the final stretch of this incredible journey. Let’s take a moment to reflect on what we value most in this project:

We’re not here for Oscar-worthy acting, blockbuster VFX, or state-of-the-art equipment. Instead, we’ll evaluate your process, technical growth, and collaborative efforts. Remember, this is about applying what you’ve learned, learning from what doesn’t go as planned, and finding joy in the creative process.

    Educational Goals

Here’s what we’re striving for with this project:

    • Skill Application: Show us the cinematography, editing, and storytelling techniques you’ve learned this semester.
    • Iteration and Growth: Demonstrate how your project evolved through peer feedback, experimentation, and refinement.
    • Portfolio Building: Create something tangible that reflects your skills and vision.
    • The Production Cycle: Experience the full journey of filmmaking—from pre-production to post—and enjoy the thrill of creation.

Your final project can take many forms:

    • Stop motion
    • Documentary
    • Freeze-frame live-action stills
    • Traditional live-action
    • Animation

    No Time for Second-Guessing: It's Post-Production Time!

Most of the heavy lifting is already done. Now, it’s time to commit to your vision and bring your project to life.

    And remember:

    Final Project Submission Criteria

    1. Team Composition and Collaboration

    • Evidence of teamwork: Clearly document the roles and contributions of each team member.
    • Peer support: Include proof that you assisted another team’s project for at least two hours (photos, logs, or acknowledgments).

    2. Pre-Production Materials

    • Script (if applicable): Include dialogue and narrative flow, ensuring clarity.
    • Storyboard: Provide visual representations of each shot.
    • Shot List: A detailed breakdown of all planned shots, including camera angles and movement.
    • Production Schedule: A timeline for shoots, covering equipment reservations, actor availability, and editing deadlines.
    • Animatic (optional): A basic draft of your film using storyboard panels, still frames, or preliminary footage to outline the story.

    3. Production Materials

    • Footage: Submit dailies and B-roll coverage, with multiple takes of key shots. Aim for at least 10x the footage relative to the final running time.
    • Storyboard and Animatic Revisions (if applicable): Provide updated versions reflecting the realities of the shoot.

    4. Post-Production Materials

    • Rough Cut: Submit a preliminary edit, including placeholder audio and any storyboard/found footage. Export in 540p or 360p MP4 format.
    • Final Film:
      • Length: 2 to 8 minutes (plus titles and credits) in 720p MP4 format.
      • Requirements:
        • Titles, credits, and copyright information.
        • Demonstrate knowledge of cinematography, lighting, and continuity editing (IMR style).
        • Audio is recommended but not mandatory.
        • While animation or found footage may complement your film, camera footage must be filmed by your team.

    5. Extra Credit Opportunities

    • Behind-the-Scenes Reel: A 720p MP4 video (less than 150 MB) highlighting your production process, funny moments, and outtakes within the credits of the submitted final cut.

    Task

Each student should submit their final assignment individually with the following:

    1. The group’s final product (shared by all team members).
    2. Your unique supporting materials: Pre-production documents, your contributions, and any personal insights or reflections.

    Submission Guidelines

Upload your materials to Google Classroom by the deadline. Ensure all files are labeled clearly (e.g., GroupName_FinalFilm.mp4).
