The way that you access and use each book depends on a number of different factors including:
- Vendor that sells/rents the book
- License type
- Database interface
Sometimes you will be able to download the ebook to your device, while at other times you may have to use it online through the library's website. Some books will have licenses that allow an unlimited number of people to use them at once, while others will only permit one user at a time.
However, ebooks have a ton of benefits that make using them worthwhile! As shown below, the interface for this book has some handy tools that you can use. These buttons allow you to bookmark the book, share it, download it, or get citations for it. It also has tools for searching the text and for enlarging the size of the text. Enlarging text can be incredibly useful for people with visual impairments or who are on smaller screens.
Ebooks also have the benefit of being able to be read with screenreaders, another technology that helps people with visual impairments. Some ebook interfaces even have text-to-speech tools to read the book aloud to you. These tools are essential for people with visual impairments, but are also helpful for auditory learners!
