You have already learned a lot about college writing and and the way summary and response skills will help you build upon the ideas of others and contribute your own ideas to an existing conversation. I now want you to turn your attention to reading the arguments of others more closely. Take note about how strong writers present their ideas and build the trust of their readers. As you move through this class and through your college education, arguments will often be the subject of important class discussions and the source material for essays you are assigned. You will need to know how to get the most out of reading and responding to arguments.
