Magnificat anima mea Dominum
My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
for He has regarded His slave’s low estate;
all generations will now call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me,
and holy is His name.
He is merciful to those who fear Him,
from one generation to the next.
He has displayed strength with His arm,
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts;
He has dethroned the powerful,
but lifted up the weak,
He has satisfied the hungry with good things,
but sent the rich away with empty hands.
He has helped His servant Israel
in remembrance of His mercy
spoken to our fathers,
to Abraham and his offspring forever.
Spirit of the Living God, You overshadowed the Blessed Virgin, making her womb the Ark of the New Covenant; even so overshadow and conform us to the image of her Son; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
