Domini clamavi
A Psalm of David.
I call to You, Lord; come to me now;
hear my voice when I cry to You.
Let my prayer count as incense before You;
my uplifted hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a guard, Lord, over my mouth,
keep watch at the door of my lips.
Let me not incline to any evil thing,
nor lend myself to those who craft iniquity;
let me not eat of their delectable fare.
Let the just strike me in loyal love;
let his rebuke be as oil on my head;
let me not refuse it,
for my prayer continues against iniquity.
When their judges are thrown over the cliff,
they will listen to my words, for they are sweet.
They shall say, “As the ground is plowed and broken,
so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.”
But my eyes are turned to You, Lord God;
in You I take refuge; leave me not exposed.
Keep me from the snares they’ve laid for me,
the traps of evildoers.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
while I pass by in safety.
Almighty and everlasting God, let our prayers count as sweet-smelling incense before You, and may honest rebuke be as oil on our head, turning us again to You and Your loyal love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
