A Psalm of David.
Let my prayer rise up before You as incense,
the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
I call to You, Lord; come to me now;
hear my voice when I cry to You.
How shall I call on You, my God,
if You I have not heard?
I bear mortality within me,
and the witness of my sin,
and the witness that You resist the proud.
Yet my desire is to praise You, mortal though I am;
for You have made us for Yourself,
and our hearts are restless
‘til they rest in You.
Let my prayer rise up before You as incense,
the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Almighty and everlasting God, You resist the proud and bless the humble. Let our prayers rise as incense before You and, as You have promised, come to us, mortals though we are, and give our restless hearts the rest they seek in You; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
