De Profundis
A Song of Ascents.
I cried to You, Lord,
from the depths of a night
that seemed never to surrender to dawn:
“Lord, hear my voice!
Let not Your ears be deaf to my pleas.”
If You, Lord, kept track of sins,
Who, Lord, could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You,
that You may be feared.
I wait for the Lord;
all I am waits
and hopes in His word.
I wait for the Lord
like sentries watch for the morn;
more than sentries watch for the morn.
Israel, hope in the Lord;
for with the Lord there is mercy,
with Him, abundant redemption.
He shall redeem Israel from all her sins.
O Lord and our Redeemer, You hear the pleas of all who call for grace. Do not leave us in the depths of despair but bring us to the morning light of that mercy which shines in Him who is resurrection and light, Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
