Exaltabo te, Domine
A psalm. A song for the dedication of the temple. Of David.
I will exalt You, Lord, for You have lifted me
and have not let my enemies gloat over me.
To You, Lord my God, I cried for help,
and You healed me.
You, Lord, raised me from Sheol,
kept me alive, You have, that I not go down to the Pit.
Make music to the Lord, you His saints,
give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.
For His anger lasts but a moment,
His favor a lifetime.
Weeping may linger for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
When I prospered, I said, “I shall never be moved.”
Your favor, Lord, made my mountain stand firm;
You hid Your face—I trembled.
To You, Lord, I cried;
to the Lord I begged for mercy:
“What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the Pit?
Can my dust praise You?
Can it proclaim Your truth?
Be merciful, Lord, and hear me.
Be, Lord, my helper.”
You turned my wailing into dancing.
You removed my sackcloth
and dressed me with joy.
To You my heart now sings and is not silent;
I will give thanks to You, Lord my God, forever.
Heavenly Father, Your Son wept great tears in the night of His arrest, but His wailing was turned to dancing when You raised Him to glory. Even so, for His sake, dress us with the joy of the resurrection that we may give thanks to You forever. Amen.
