Cum invocarem exaudivit me
For the Chief Musician; with stringed instruments.
A Psalm of David.
Answer me when I call, God of my vindication.
You gave me space when I was trapped.
Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
How long, sons of men, will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love what is worthless,
and seek what is false? Selah
Know that the Lord has set the pious apart for Himself;
the Lord will hear when I call to Him.
Tremble with fear, yet do not sin.
Meditate in your heart as you lie in bed,
and be still. Selah
Offer right sacrifices,
and trust in the Lord.
There are many who say, “Who can bring us better times?”
Let Your face lighten us, Lord,
for You have put more joy in my heart
than they have whose grain and wine abound.
I can lie down and sleep in peace,
for You alone, Lord, let me live secure.
O God, who orders all things through Your Son, give us throughout this day a joyful heart and a clear conscience, that when we come to its end we may lie down and sleep in peace in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
Or
O God, through the night of His agony in the garden, His arrest, and His trial, Your beloved Son found rest in You and Your promises. Turn Your face to us, that we may know His peace and the security of His forgiveness; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
