CCC Library provides you access to materials that cannot be found (for free, if at all) on the Internet. Publishers of books, eBooks, research journals, and scientific articles charge fees to view their content; that's their business model. The library subscribes to collections of these materials on your behalf in order to provide you the materials you require to learn in your discipline. That's why, when you go to access a CCC Library database or article, you are prompted to log in with your myClackamas username and password. Without access to these materials, scholarly research would be hugely limited, so take advantage of your time as a student and use them to greatest effect.
Many public libraries also provide access to research databases, so the public at large is able to access these materials, albeit in much more limited amounts than a student at a college or university. You may not have realized that you have access to more information now than you will have once you are out of school!
Library Collections
CCC Library has built an incredibly robust search system, called the Library Catalog, designed to help you find resources efficiently. The search bar on the CCC Library website(opens in new window) simultaneously searches hundreds of databases and millions of books, eBooks, articles, encyclopedias, videos, maps, government documents, and more. These information formats all have relevant roles to play in your research process. Over the next few weeks we will explore a few of them so you will be more comfortable finding and evaluating them for your research projects.
You can think of using this tool similar to online shopping - you put in your search term, review your results, then start applying limiters (refiners or facets) to narrow down your results. Just like in Amazon you may limit by price, availability, color, or other category, in CCC Library search you can limit by the information's Availability, Type, Date of publication, or Subject. Apply one limiter at a time; never apply two at once as it breaks the system. Choose one, then hit search before choosing another.

CCC + Summit Libraries
This includes books, eBooks, videos, and other items available at CCC Library and 38 Summit libraries. Sign in using your myClackamas account to order items from Summit. Items from Summit libraries are usually delivered within 2-5 business days.
CCC + Summit Libraries + Articles
This scope includes books, eBooks, videos, and other items at CCC Library and 38 Summit libraries, and a sizable portion of CCC Library's article databases. For optimal results, sign in using your myClackamas account.
Course Reserves
This is where you can find course-specific textbooks and materials that your instructor has put on reserve for your class.
Specialty Databases (Streaming videos + articles)
Not all content from CCC Library’s subscription databases are included in Library Search. In order to find and access this missing content, select Databases A-Z and select the individual database. This notice applies to Films on Demand, Literature Resource Center, Learning Express, and several EBSCO databases.
